eCosCentric announces eCosPro ST40A Starter Kit
CAMBRIDGE, UK -- August 26, 2005 -- eCosCentric Limited, the eCos and RedBoot experts, today announced availability of the eCosPro® Starter Kit for distribution with the STMicroelectronics ST40RA evaluation boards. The eCosPro Starter Kit is a commercial grade distribution of the eCos RTOS for deeply embedded systems, including a GNU-based compiler/debugger toolchain, graphical eCos Configuration tool and certified RedBoot binaries.
"Building this eCosPro Starter Kit for STMicroelectronics in response to customer demand, has been an interesting project that typifies both the growing use of eCosPro and the manner in which system software is selected at the design phase with hardware" remarked Daniel Morris, Sales & Marketing Director at eCosCentric. "The qualities of the ST40 architecture that position it so well for in-car multimedia, telematic and data intensive applications are best harnessed through the low profile, configurable and feature-rich eCosPro runtime".
"Our confidence in eCosCentric's professional services was reinforced by the quality and timeliness of their delivery" said Andy Hurman, Business Development Manager at STMicroelectronics, "allowing a key customer to meet their volume manufacturing window."
The eCosPro Starter Kit allows all ST40RA customers to rapidly evaluate eCosPro on the ST40 architecture. eCosCentric also offers a direct upgrade to the full eCosPro Developer's Kit complementing the Starter Kit contents with commercial support & advice, graphical IDE & debugger based on Eclipse, a thread-safe FAT16 filesystem optimised for removable media and C++ runtime (including Standard Template Library). Third party components certified with eCosPro include a Java Virtual Machine and Graphical User Interfaces.
eCosPro is a stable, fully tested and supported version of the eCos open source real-time operating system and RedBoot bootstrap firmware. The eCosPro Developer's Kit is a distribution of eCosPro which includes prebuilt eCos host tools and compiler toolchains, full documentation, an Eclipse-based integrated development environment to streamline eCos application development and a libstdc++ implementation for selected architectures.
