When upgrading the eCosPro Host Tools or GNU Tools, the older versions of these tools will be replaced and all eCosPro Developer's kits profiles that use the older version will be updated to the newer version of the tools. If you wish to keep the older versions of these tools, you may do so either by confirming you wish to update/reinstall the new version and install to a different location, or by taking a backup copy of the old installation. Note, however, that if you do install to a different location, the desktop menu items will still refer to the older version of the tools.
To upgrade only the eCosPro Host Tools or GNU Tools and not the whole eCosPro installation, you only need to run the appropriate installer for your operating system and ensure you have to hand the licensee file downloaded at the same time as those components. The name of the eCosPro host tools installer is typically of the format ecoshosttools-<w>.<x>.<y>.<z>-<HostOS>-setup. The name of the eCosPro GNU Tools installer is typically of the format ecospro-gnutools-<target>-<format>-<w>.<x>.<y>.<z>-<HostOS>-setup.
When updating the tools to the same location, you must make sure you are not running the graphical Configuration Tool configuration tool or any of the other host tools as the update may fail with unexpected results.
Do not attempt to downgrade eCosPro Host Tools or GNU Tools by reinstalling the older versions of the tools. Please contact eCosCentric for further instructions if you wish to use the older versions.
