By default, the eCosPro installer will install the eCosPro source code as well as all the host executables required to develop and build eCosPro and eCosPro applications. This is the Typical installation illustrated in Figure 4-7.
Every eCosPro Developer's Kit release allows you to optionally install the source code of most of the host executables, such as the eCosPro Host Tools and the GNU Toolchains. You can elect to include this source code with your installation by selecting either a Complete install or a Custom install and selecting the components for which you would like source code to be installed. See Figure 4-8. The source code will be installed in the src subdirectory of each component. For example, on Linux hosts:
/opt/ecospro/gnutools-arm-eabi-4.4.5a/src for the GNU Toolchain source code
/opt/ecospro/ecoshosttools-3.1/src for the eCosPro host tools
On Windows hosts:
C:\eCosPro\gnutools-arm-eabi-4.4.5a\src for the GNU Toolchain source code
C:\eCosPro\ecoshosttools-3.1\src for the eCosPro host tools
The source code to the Eclipse IDE is not provided.
Note: You do not need to install the source code for either the eCosPro Host Tools or the GNU Toolchains in order to develop and build eCosPro and eCosPro applications. They are only needed if you wish to re-build the host executables for the eCosPro Host Tools or GNU Toolchains. They may also be installed at a later stage by running the individual installer for the relevant component (see Chapter 8).
Important: The standard eCosPro support contracts provided by eCosCentric do not include support for rebuilding the host and GNU tools.
